Tent peak climbing is an outstanding adventure which includes fascinating trekking trail along an ascent to Tent peak [5663m.], also known as Tharpu Chuli. Tent peak is one of the most climbed trekking peak in Nepal. Other major highlight of the trip is exclusive exploration of Annapurna sanctuary. T
he summit of Tent peak offers a stunning 360 degrees panoramic view of the surrounding Annapurna massif. The trek starts from Phedi after a 25 minute drive from Pokhara. Further on. The trail takes us to the Annapurna Sanctuary, the most spectacular high mountain amphitheatre, through charming Gurung villages and rhododendron forests.
During our trekking venture, we witness a variety of landscapes sprawling across sub-tropical forest, terraced rice paddies, pleasant ridges, grassy farmland and forests of bamboo and rhododendron. On our return from the Sanctuary, the trail follows an alternative route, turning westwards to follow a high ridge which eventually leads to Ghorepani and the Kali Gandaki Valley. From Poon Hill above Ghorepani, we experience the breathtaking views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges before heading back to Pokhara on the shores of Phewa Tal. Finally, we take a flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Tent Peak Climbing is tailor made for any one who is physically fit and has adventure spirit. After proper acclimatization, this trip can be undertaken at any time of the year except monsoon [July & August].
Flying to Kathmandu along the northern border of Nepal on a clear day is in itself an exciting and memorable experience as exotic panoramic view of snow-capped Annapurna mountain range peaks sprawls before you. The Nepali support team will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.
Kathmandu, being a historical and cultural heart of Nepal, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers and adventure seekers. The city presents a wonderful mixture of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the Valley. Patan and Bhaktapur are its two major neighboring cities which bear immense historical, cultural and religious significance. There will be a half day guided tour to the famous & biggest Hindu shrine PASUPATHINATH, the largest Buddhist stupa in town BOUDHANATH, the 15th century palace of 55 windows and SOYAMBHUNATH. In the evening, a trip orientation meeting will be organized.
Our trip starts with 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. During the flight, we will be sightseeing the most magnificent and sensational view of Himalayan range. As the flight lands on Pokhara, we will be mesmerized by the irresistible visual treat of Manaslu and other enchanting Himalayan peaks of Nepal. In Pokhara, A bus will take us to Phedi. From there onwards begins our trekking in Annapurna mountain range. As we climb uphill, we bask in the splendor of nature and the trails become more adventurous. Finally, after walking for 3 hours, we encounter several roadside teashops and at last the trail leads to the Gurung village of Dhampus. Here concludes our trip of the day.
The trail narrows as it skirts round a ridge snout. On proceeding further, we pass through Pothana and reach Deurali. At this point, we find ourselves high up on the East side of the Modi Khola cascading down Himalayan peaks of Nepal surrounded by complete ambience of nature. We continue trekking for four hours until we reach picturesque Gurung settlement of Landrung. Spectacular views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli instill more zest and excitement into our adventure spirit.
From Landrung, we march along the mountain path of stone steps, pass through a hamlet, cross a suspension bridge and then we come across dense forest of bamboo. Finding oneself in complete isolation amidst the serenity of nature can be quite an experience. Our trek does not stop here. After trekking for a while, we approach teahouses at Jhinu where we rest and enjoy a drink or snacks. Thereafter, we resume the trek to the north, descending Daaulu and after having walked for five hours we reach Chomrong. From Chomrong, we can have prominent and mesmerizing view of Machhapuchhare. There are many chalet-style wooden lodges at Chomrong where we can get accommodation and food.
Crossing Chomrong Khola, we continue trekking along steep stone steps. The trail passes by rhododendron-covered ridge path, mountainous terrains and forests of bamboo. As we savor awe-inspiring views of Annapurna mountain ranges and Machhapuchhare, we gather more energy and enthusiasm to explore further. During our five-hour walking, you cross Modi Khola, pass through Khuldigar, Bamboo and Dovan and finally reach Himalaya Hotel where we wrap up our trip of the day.
As we climb steeply, we soon reach Hinku Cave where we find a fire-blackened overhang being walled-in to make a small lodge. Further ahead, the trail transverses several ascents eventually leading to the Sanctuary. After we pass lodges at Deurali and Bagar, we arrive at the level and grassy moraine platform known as Machhapuchhare Base Camp. It takes 3-4 hours of walking to reach up to base camp. Thereafter, we set a camp site at a suitable location.
We ascend gently through the tranquil meadows to get to Annapurna Base Camp. As the trail skirts along the steep slopes, we can view the spectacular sight of majestic Himalayan peaks. After having trekked for 2 hours, we reach base camp. We can now capture fantastic views of the south face of Annapurna I.
We spend the entire day taking complete rest, planning for forthcoming trips and getting accustomed to the trekking destinations amidst the unparallel beauty of the towering peaks of Nepal.
We follow the trail leading to Tent peak high camp. Struggling against the glaciated mountain passes, we finally reach our target destination. There are other options for those who not wish to climb. Hiking from camp can be quite pleasurable and adventurous. Sightseeing exotic ecosystem and breathtaking vistas of Himalayan peaks of Nepal can be equally satisfying.
Early in the morning we begin our ascent of the peak. After strenuous ascent, we finally scale the summit of Tent Peak. From an altitude of 5600meters, we savor mesmerizing views of Annapurna range. Tucking this success under our belt, we return to Annapurna Base Camp.
We take a complete break from trekking to avoid adverse climatic conditions. This also allows us to rest after our strenuous trekking to enhance our health.
After relaxation, we head back to Himalaya Hotel. 4 hours of walking will eventually take us back to Himalaya Hotel.
After the breakfast we treak back to chomrong and over night at hotel.
After breakfast we trek via Ghorepani. We follow the trail above the cultivated fields of potato and wheat before descending to the village of kimrung above the kimrung Khola. After crossing the river, the trail leads steeply uphill to Melanche before continuing through rhododendron forests to Tadapani, where we make our campsite. It takes 4-5 hours of walking to arrive at Tadapani. From our campsite, we can capture excellent views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhare.
The trail zigzags along the rock-strewn path to Banthanti. Walking past Banthanti, we proceed further along steep trails. Nature spreads exotic sight of majestic snow-capped mountain peaks, lush vegetation and rich plant life before us. We climb through rhododendron forest to Deorali [3100m] and reach a hamlet and cultivated fields. As we continue walking for 4 hours, we finally arrive at Ghorepani. Ghorepani also houses lodges to provide food and accommodation to travelers. We select a superb location to camp for the night.
After savoring the mesmerizing sight of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak and other Himalayan giants from the popular vantage point of Poon Hill [3210m], we leave Ghorepani and march ahead for Nayapul. We further descend towards Birethanti. Birethanti lies stretched beside the Modi River and has resourceful town. Along the trails of stone steps, we pass through dense forest and a small village of Ulleri. From Ulleri, a very steep section [with 3767 steps!] leads down to Hille on the Bhurungdi Khola. Forty minutes beyond Birethanti, we come to the main road. Now we can easily access any means of transportation to drive to Pokhara. In the evening, we are free to wander by the lakes of Pokhara. [6 hrs walking]
Since we have come to an end of the trip, we take a flight back to Kathmandu.
