Hotel numbers go up in Pokhara
KASKI: The number of hotels, travel and trekking agencies is on the rise in Pokhara. In 2009, 22 new hotels were opened in Pokhara while some others are in the process of opening soon. With this, the number of hotels has reached 475 in the town. Similarly, 14 new travel and four trekking agencies have been registered. Now, the city has 83 travel and 67 trekking agencies. According to the data available from the Tourism Office, Pokhara, investment in the hotel sector increased by nearly 11 percent in 2009 compared to the previous year. Hotels, travel and trekking agencies in the city have provided direct jobs to nearly 4,000 people. Similarly, investment in the trekking and travel sectors increased by Rs. 430 million in 2009 compared to 2008.
