Skill development workshop


In a bid to enhance competence of its member agents, Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) on November 23 organised a business skill development workshop in Kathmandu. More than 100 participants, representing different member agents of TAAN, took part in the workshop.

The workshop began with the demonstration of TrekManager software by Mr Yogesh Satyal, vice president of DASS Enterprises. The demonstration covered issues like dynamic currency, general quotation, reservation requirement forms and vouchers, statistical marketing information system, staff management, standard quantity setup, inventory management and estimated cost of the treks among others.

In the second session, Mr Jack Moore, a business consultant from the USA, made a presentation on 'New Busines Planning'. The presentation dealt with the necessity of business plan, preparation of a business plan and monitoring and evaluation of activities as per the plan.

In the third session, Gyaneshwor Mahato, cosultant at TAAN, made a presentation on 'Creating Responsible Business through Good Business Practices'. Through the presentation, Mahato raised pertinent issues like changing cusomter need, corporate social responsiblity, sustainable management system and supply chain management. He also informed the floor about some of the best practices to be adopted in business.

Speaking on the occasion, TAAN President Jyoti Adhikari hoped that the workshop would become successful in enhancing professionalism of trekking professionals in their business. He also said that TAAN would organise similar workshops in future as well.
