Photo Contest on - Mountains and People
Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), ICIMOD and Mountain Forum/Asia Pacific Mountain Network (APMN) are jointly organizing a Global Digital Photo Contest with the slogan of ‘For Mountains and People.’
The photo contest has four different categories: Mountains-Geophysical Elements (eg. Mountain ranges, massifs, mountain landscapes, high altitude rangeland, water bodies, waterfalls, rivers); Mountains-Hazards/Disasters (eg landslides, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, potentially dangerous glacial lakes, mudslides, dangerous roads, trails and river crossings); People-Livelihoods (eg farming, shifting cultivation, grazing, hunting, fishing, transhumance, trade, porterage, tourism, cottage industry); and People-Culture (eg festivals, shamanism, rites of passage, dance).
‘The top two - as determined by a panel of judges - will receive the ICIMOD Hindu Kush-Himalayan Prize and the Mountain Forum Global Prize. In addition, four Special Mentions will be awarded, one for each category,’ reads the press release issued by ICIMOD. The "Top 50" entries may also be exhibited in select Hindu-Kush Himalayan countries.
