KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board in cooperation with private travel trade companies recently participated in the India International Travel Mart (IITM). The mart was held at Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad of India from November 28 to 30. Hyderabad, a fast developing hi-tech city of south India is one of the major tourist market especially of those who wish to visit Nepal for a religious cause.
The three-day fair was significant in disseminating tourism information about Nepal to consumers and interacting with new and existing tour operators as well as local media. Nepal, with its slogan “Naturally Nepal — Once Is Not Enough” was presented to the Indian tourists with various packages by participating Nepalese tour operators.
The message of the government-led national tourism campaign ‘Nepal Tourism Year 2011’ was highlighted during the entire mart among the consumers, business people and local media. Nepalese tourism entrepreneurs offered religious tours to Pashupatinath in Kathamndu, Muktinath in Jomsom and pilgrimage transit tour to Kailash Mansarovar via Nepal. The mart was organized by Sphere Travel Media Pvt Ltd and supported by Andhra Pradesh State Tourism. The stall put by the Nepalese team bagged ‘Best Destination Promotion Award’ during the mart. Dubai, Switzerland, Egypt and Sri Lanka also participated in the mart.
Three Nepalese tour operators — Explore Kailash Treks and Expedition, Samrat Tours and Travels and Satyam Tours and Travels participated in the mart.
